Saying Goodbye to Jeff Unger
Too many bright lights in the theatre have been going out lately. Yesterday Jeff Unger passed away after a brave battle with Cancer. Jeff was the original Musical Director of The Black Rider in 1998 (later sharing this role with Corinne Kessel). He was there at the beginning and came on most of our tours over the next 10 years: NY, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Vancouver and St. John's (which he is rehearsing for with Ron Jenkins and Corinne below). He was talented, sweet and bloody hilarious. I'm sure the leader of the Devil's Rubato Band is making God laugh with his saucy songs in heaven.
To quote Jeff's favourite song from the show, that he loved playing even after a decade:
"We'll meet again some Lucky Day..."
Our thoughts are with Jeff's family and the Edmonton theatre community that is mourning this tremendous loss today.
